Meet the Team: Lauren Tyson

I was an SCF member for two years before I started working here in 2019. Since I've been here, I love this company even more.

Meet the Team is a recurring series allowing you to get to know the team behind Scott's Cheap Flights success.

We recently sat down with Lauren Tyson, our Senior Knowledge Management Specialist (and resident artist and Bob's Burgers fan!), to learn about her role, the reasons she loves her job, and where you can find her when she’s not in the office.

Tell us all about you! What do you do outside of work?

I live in Southwestern Montana in a cabin on the river with my husband and two dogs.

I love to fly fish; every weekend in the summer my husband and I pack up our boat and dogs and head to the river. I also love to camp, go hiking in the backcountry with no cell service, read fantasy novels, run marathons, cook, and most importantly I'm an artist - I specialize in hand-painted Montana fly-fishing hats, acrylic paintings, and fine art prints.

What brought you to Scott's Cheap Flights in the first place?

I wanted to work at a company that aligned with my personal interests. I'm an explorer a heart. I want to experience new things/people/places/FOOD etc. Scott's Cheap Flights allows me to flex that part of myself.

So what does a Senior Knowledge Management Specialist do? How did you get into Member Success?

My team is who responds when you reach out to Scott's Cheap Flights via email and chat. Our job is to help you successfully navigate your membership so you can book those awesome deals!

Specifically, some of the things I do in my role are managing SCF's Help Center and new member video series, managing the content of our internal team resources, and team training.

I've always loved helping people and although my career has been a windy path (isn't that true for all of us?), helping people has always been at the center of it. I was an SCF member for two years before I started working here in 2019. Since I've been here, I love this company even more.

What's your favorite thing about your role here at Scott's Cheap Flights?

Figuring out new and better ways to educate our members on how to get the most out of their SCF membership. I brainstorm big ideas with my teammates and then put those ideas into action.

What advice would you give to a candidate interested in working at SCF?

I think remote work has gotten a little bit of a bad rap because so many people and companies were unexpectedly thrust into it due to the pandemic. But SCF knows how to do remote work right, which is important. Remote work doesn't have to be lonely, with no boundaries, or micro-manage-y. SCF has always been a remote company even pre-pandemic so if you are a candidate who is interested in working for a remote company that knows how to support its employees, then this is the place to be.

What country do you most want to visit and why?

This changes daily! I want to visit everywhere. For now, I'll say Ghana because I recently did 23andMe and learned my ancestry.

What always makes you laugh, no matter what?

Bob's Burgers is the greatest show of all time. I'm crying with laughter whenever I watch it. I'm a mashup of Linda and Louise.
