A decade ago, Scott Keyes found a $130 roundtrip flight to Milan, inspiring the launch of Scott's Cheap Flights. Since then, we've changed our name to Going to more accurately reflect our mission and members, launched Going with Points to enable members to travel virtually free with the help of points and miles, and launched an app so members can get all of those deals right at their fingertips.

More than 10 million travelers trust Going to find them flights out of over 200 US airports, to more than 500 destinations, at 40–50% off on average (though mistake fares go up to 90% off). All told, that's more than $1 billion saved on airfare since 2015.

Here we're highlighting the top flight deals we've sent over the years, plus ten more top deals that were bookable with points and miles.

Top cash deals

1. *Mistake fare* Santiago, Chile – $63 roundtrip

Santiago
  • Regular price: $1,000 roundtrip (savings of $937)
  • Departure city: Atlanta (ATL)
  • Sent: November 12, 2020
  • Travel period: November 2020–February 2021

The gem of all deals sent during the pandemic. It actually included 10 nonstop routes from Atlanta to various Central and South America destinations. Fares ranged from $63 roundtrip to $368 roundtrip (to Rio de Janeiro), all on Delta. Note: Chile was open for travel in time for folks to take advantage (just ask our former colleague who snagged the deal!).

2. *Mistake fare* Southeast Asia Business Class – $561–$673 roundtrip

Southeast Asia
  • Regular price: $5,000+ roundtrip (savings of up to $4,439)
  • Departure cities: Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO)
  • Sent: August 17, 2018
  • Travel period: September 2018–March 2019 (including Thanksgiving)

Bali, Bangkok, Manila, Shanghai—this deal ran the gamut of hot Southeast Asian destinations. And at mistake fare prices in business class, as cheap (maybe even cheaper) than you’d find in economy? The cheap flight overlords were feeling particularly generous on that day in 2018.

3. Singapore and New Delhi (2-in-1) – $368 roundtrip

Singapore
  • Regular price: $1,200 roundtrip for 2-in-1 (savings of $832)
  • Departure city: New York City (JFK)
  • Sent: December 27, 2019
  • Travel period: January–May, September–October 2020

A favorite among our travel experts, this deal came when we found a few of these oddities: deals with incredible pricing that took advantage of quirks when booking 2-in-1 or open-jaw itineraries. Flying on a combination of Singapore Airlines and ANA, including a middle leg for under $400, this was a serious steal and taken advantage of by several of our members.

4. *Mistake fare* Iceland – $100–$269 roundtrip

Iceland
  • Regular price: $750+ roundtrip (savings of up to $650)
  • Departure cities: Chicago (ORD), Baltimore (BWI), Washington DC (DCA, IAD), Boston (BOS), Orlando (MCO), Denver (DEN), Portland (PDX), Seattle (SEA)
  • Sent: March 11, 2022
  • Travel period: October 2022

This deal landed in the early days of SkyTeam trying to undercut Icelandair on its own turf, offering low fares with one stop in a hub city, then onward to Iceland. We’ve since seen more of this trend—legacy carriers going the distance to compete with regional carriers, though nothing compares to this.

5. Hawaii – $233 roundtrip

Hawaii
  • Regular price: $750+ from Dallas, $850+ from East Coast (savings of up to $617)
  • Departure cities: Charlotte (CLT), Philadelphia (PHL), Dallas (DFW)
  • Sent: November 8, 2021
  • Travel period: November 2021–March 2022

If Honolulu or Maui was on your to-visit list, this was an unbeatable deal. It included best-ever prices from all three airports. Not to mention sub-$300 fares from the East Coast—that rarely happens.

6. *Mistake fare* San Juan, Puerto Rico – $23 roundtrip

San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • Regular price: $700+ roundtrip for Christmas, $550+ roundtrip for non-peak season (savings of $677)
  • Departure city: Boston (BOS)
  • Sent: April 14, 2020
  • Travel period: August 2020–January 2021

In an uncertain era of hot fares to places where folks couldn’t travel, this one stood out as one of the few early-pandemic deals that: (a) was honored and (b) was booked and traveled on by dozens of members.

7. *Mistake fare* Dublin – $114 roundtrip

Dublin
  • Regular price: $850 roundtrip (savings of $736)
  • Departure city: Minneapolis (MSP)
  • Sent: May 14, 2024
  • Travel period: June 2024

Our travel experts first got a whiff of this deal with a $224 roundtrip fare from Chicago. Amazing, yes, but not worthy of our top 10 list. About an hour later, this $114 price dropped from Minneapolis and our jaws hit the floor. This was the start of a now-two-year trend of silly-good fares for last-minute travel on over-stocked (high-capacity) routes to Europe. We originally labeled it a mistake fare—and it likely was—but now we’re thinking there may have been more to it.

8. Taipei, Taiwan – $576 roundtrip

Taipei, Taiwan
  • Regular price: $1,400 roundtrip (savings of $824)
  • Departure city: Minneapolis (MSP)
  • Sent: February 19, 2026
  • Travel period: March 2026

Fare wars aren't just an East Coast phenomenon. When United decided to compete on this Delta stronghold route, prices from the Twin Cities to Taipei dropped further than we'd ever tracked, undercutting the previous record by more than $100. For anyone able to pick up and go with about a month's notice, this was one of the rarest fares we've seen to East Asia.

9. Rome – $195 roundtrip

Rome
  • Regular price: $850 roundtrip (savings of up to $743)
  • Departure city: New York City (JFK)
  • Sent: March 27, 2024
  • Travel period: March–April, November 2024

Here’s your proof. This was a brand new route, and arguably Norse’s most valuable route between the US and Europe to date. Suffice to say, they came out swinging. Even better? It didn’t limit itself to last-minute travel dates; it also included some dates further in the future, allowing planners to get in on the fun.

10. Tahiti – $440 roundtrip

tahiti
  • Regular price: $1,200 roundtrip (savings of $760)
  • Departure city: San Francisco (SFO)
  • Sent: October 21, 2023
  • Travel period: November–December 2023

This route has seen extreme price fluctuations over the years, as United and French Bee have grappled to dominate it. For this deal in late 2023, we saw the fare war come to a head as French Bee went all in, dipping prices into never-before-seen (and not-seen-since) territory. Pacific Island getaways are always expensive. This was a white whale.

11. Fiji – $596 roundtrip

Islands dot the blue water in Fiji
  •  Regular price: $1,400 roundtrip (savings of $804)
  • Departure city: Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW)
  • Sent: December 1, 2025
  • Travel period: February–May 2026

Fiji Airways launched nonstop service from Dallas about a year before this deal dropped, and by late 2025, prices finally cracked. This was the cheapest fare we'd tracked on the route since day one, proof that a brand-new long-haul route is often the best time to catch an airline still fighting to fill seats."

12. *Mistake fare* Nairobi and Johannesburg – $242–$348 roundtrip

Safari in South Africa
  • Regular price: $1,000+ roundtrip (savings of up to $758)
  • Departure city: New York City (JFK)
  • Sent: October 29, 2018
  • Travel period: January–October 2019

Great deals to Europe, even Asia prepandemic, were relatively commonplace. To Africa? Maybe slightly less so. So given this deal to Nairobi and Johannesburg happened to actually be a mistake fare, there’s no way it wouldn’t end up on this list.

13. Rio de Janeiro – $488 roundtrip

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  • Regular price: $1,080 roundtrip (savings of $592)
  • Departure city: New York City (JFK)
  • Sent: July 3, 2026
  • Travel period: November–December 2026

Delta hadn't offered a nonstop this cheap between New York and Rio in more than two years. When it finally landed, it only showed up across three narrow date windows in late November and early December, proof that even on a well-traveled route, the right week can still turn up a fare well below what regulars are used to paying.

Top points & miles deals

1. *Mistake fare* Finland Business Class – 19k roundtrip

  • Regular cash price: $4,000 roundtrip
  • Departure city: Los Angeles (LAX)
  • Sent: January 13, 2024
  • Travel period: February–May 2024, July 2024–January 2025

Available for travel on Finnair if you booked through partner Iberia, this fare had tickets pricing out at about 9,300 points each way (19,000 roundtrip). It’s a pretty solid rate for traveling with points from the US to Europe, even if you were flying economy. But points this low for business class? You lost money not jumping on it.

2. Japan First Class – 145k roundtrip

  • Regular cash price: $21,000 roundtrip
  • Departure city: San Francisco (SFO)
  • Sent: February 13, 2024
  • Travel period: April–August 2024

Getting this deal required a little booking gymnastics, but we laid out all the steps so you could snag it with ease when booking directly through Virgin Atlantic. Mind you, there’s generally only one first class seat to Japan per day, so you’d have been wise to take advantage of this one.

3. Australia – 30k–40k roundtrip

  • Regular cash price: $1,300 roundtrip
  • Departure cities: 150+ US airports
  • Sent: June 30, 2026
  • Travel period: October–December 2026

Delta SkyMiles isn’t the best for everyday award redemption, but one thing we can confidently say: They have access to amazing flash sales. Another great thing about this deal: It wasn’t exclusive to the West Coast hubs, which you’ll typically see with transpacific flights. Tons of mid-sized and East Coast airports got a piece of the pie, too, including Indianapolis, Kansas City, and New Orleans.

4. Paris – 22k roundtrip

  • Regular cash price: $900 roundtrip
  • Departure city: Minneapolis (MSP)
  • Sent: October 16, 2024
  • Travel period: April–June 2025

Nonstop to the City of Light at the beginning of peak season? Oui oui. And getting there on points and miles, you’re basically locking it in for free. Savvy travelers know that once you’re on the Old Continent, you can get pretty much anywhere—Barcelona, Amsterdam, Copenhagen—for cheap.

5. *Mistake fare* Taiwan – 15k one-way

  • Regular cash price: $1,000 roundtrip
  • Departure cities: Dallas (DFW), Houston (IAH), Washington DC (IAD), Boston (BOS), Raleigh (RDU), Los Angeles (LAX), Portland (PDX), Seattle (SEA)
  • Sent: July 5, 2024
  • Travel period: April 2025

This was specially designed for our quickest and savviest members. Although availability was more limited than we’d typically send out, the deal was too good not to share. Sure, by booking the one-way fare at 15,000 points you’d still need to get yourself back home, but even if you paired the departure fare with a typical 48,000-point United saver award space from Taiwan back to the states, you could fly roundtrip to Taipei for fewer than 65,000 points.

6. Japan – 44k roundtrip

  • Regular cash price: $1,000 roundtrip
  • Departure cities: New York City (JFK), Chicago (ORD), Honolulu (HNL), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Washington DC (IAD), Minneapolis (MSP), Seattle (SEA)
  • Sent: June 2, 2023
  • Travel period: November 2023–May 2024

We sent a dreamy points deal with wide-open availability on Delta and Virgin Atlantic’s award space to Tokyo. Nonstop cash deals from the East Coast to Japan are rare, so New York City and DC routing made this deal extra-special.

7. London – 9k roundtrip

  • Regular cash price: $850 roundtrip
  • Departure cities: Boston (BOS), Atlanta (ATL), Las Vegas (LAS), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York City (JFK), Seattle (SEA), Washington DC (IAD)
  • Sent: December 6, 2024
  • Travel period: January–June, September–October 2025

This was the best deal to London we'd seen in a while. Routes from the East Coast undoubtedly saw the best fares, starting at 6,000 points each way, while other cities went up to just 10,000 points each way. A steal no matter how you sliced it.

8. Vietnam Business Class – 92k roundtrip

  • Regular cash price: $9,000 roundtrip
  • Departure cities: Chicago (ORD), Boston (BOS), Minneapolis (MSP)
  • Sent: July 21, 2023
  • Travel period: August–November 2023

Flying Blue had availability to Vietnam, with a connection in Paris, for the same price as a business class award seat to Europe. Since Air France started allowing free stopovers on award tickets, it basically meant that you got a free flight between Paris and Vietnam on this one.

9. South Korea – 47k roundtrip

  • Regular cash price: $1,000 roundtrip
  • Departure cities: 57 US airports
  • Sent: February 1, 2024
  • Travel period: February–November 2024

Points deals. Points deals everywhere. This award redemption was so widespread—touching all four corners of the US, from Seattle to Miami and Philly to LA—chances are you lived within a couple hours of an airport where you could’ve snagged this fare. Yes, even the smaller airports saw this points deal, including Palm Springs, Missoula, Chattanooga, Savannah, and beyond.

10. Hong Kong First Class – 250k roundtrip

  • Regular cash price: $30,000 roundtrip
  • Departure city: New York City (JFK), Los Angeles (LAX)
  • Sent: December 16, 2024
  • Travel period: April–November 2025

250k points might seem like a lot (it is). But what if we told you that had you bought this ticket in cold hard cash, it’d have set you back $30,000? 250k points doesn’t seem so steep now, huh? This fare wrapped a private suite, award-winning dining, and the highest of premium service all into one. And even if you didn’t have 250k points at your disposal, you still could’ve sprung for business class at 84k–110k points each way.
